Elias: "You've all seen my face already, but lemme cover it up with a piece of cloth anyway."

Thought that moment was pretty cute. :P

Ohms Nuttachai • 11 months ago

It's funny how he still worries about his appearance all this time when there are teachers that even look non-human more than him.

Anime & Rutabagas • 11 months ago

Bashful Elias is cute lol

Ka-chan | カッちゃん • 11 months ago

Look, why did you have to take something cute and sweet and then go drag it into the gutter that your thoughts seem to be? Do some cleaning up in there at times, will ya?

And then just don't go around flaunting "I'm a mess" in public, maybe? You can talk about your thought gutter stuff in settings where the listener gives consent to listening to it and the setting is appropriate. Examples: therapy settings, partnership, friendships, talks to consenting strangers you'll never meet again who invite you to talk about your worries and can signal to you when they're done listening.

That's very different from dumping that stuff into public.

You can do it!

And Bit Killer Jones strikes again!

Why, so, serious?

And blocked.

Anime & Rutabagas • 11 months ago

Whoever killed the entire Webster family must have been arachnophobic lol

Azureink • 11 months ago

Most likely they were jealous and stole the spiders to get a monopoly on the copy of magical book trade.

They probably have the spiders working somewhere.

Seosamh Wray • 11 months ago

I'm suspecting Philmela's clan, or at the very least they know something. Pretty sure she's the one who stole and is now using the grimoire.

Ohms Nuttachai • 11 months ago

Tory got shot down. My condolences.

Seems like we finally going to see Lucy's backstory. I assume the kid appeared in her dream was Seth since she said that he hate her. Quite curious about how this will develop and who was the real culprit but I blame Itachi.

Finally seeing Silky again after a long time. Since the story mainly takes place in school, she doesn't have much screen time. I hope we will see her more often.

Nan Demo K(Nai)ves • 11 months ago

It's funny how Silky doesn't appear as much but her voice actor has gotten more lines since she appears less. Endou Aya who voices Silky is voicing Alexandra for those who don't know.

Anime & Rutabagas • 11 months ago

Silky needs more screen time lol

Paradise SLU • 11 months ago

Agreed, hows your Thursday Anime.

DesuYoda • 10 months ago

Chise gives Sliky less and less hair to work with...

Ka-chan | カッちゃん • 11 months ago

Hm? The kid in the dream is Lucy. She was klinging to Chise (who probably spawned into the role of the muderer OR a person who came to rescue her but she possibly knows as having confiscicated the spiders [maybe for safety reasons])

Child Lucy was screaming "Give them back! Everyone. Our spiders!!" And she says that she detests magicians. She was probably demanding from a magician to give back the mudered clan members and the stolen/confiscicated spinders!

But for all we know, what could just as well have happened, may have been that the spiders were a terrible secret or in some way went rampant and a mage came in to resolve the situation but with the result that the family members could either not be saved OR had to pay the proice for utilising the spiders in some nefarious ways OR died because they're connected to the spiders and die if those die.

Lucy hates. She's aware that she's frequently no right doing so, but she cannot help herself. She may be speaking and hating from a place of trauma trigger. Which means she may be hating on the wrong (type of) person and be aware of it (aka a rescuer/judge), but still not be able to help it. Cause on the inside shes still the child who sees her murdered family and mabye doesn't know or manage to accept the reason her family had to die. It is suspicious that only a child and her not-sufficiently-magically-gifted brother survived. I theorize she may have escaped a revenge/judgement/magical accident due to being too young to get iniciated into whatever the family secret was.

It's clear that someone is on th hunt for them. Particularly the brother. He, too, may know more or be able to do more than meets the eye!

Paradise SLU • 11 months ago

R.I.P to the guy that got killed in the ending scene, interesting episode.

Welcome back, me

Elias doesn't know the gravity of this words...

Nan Demo K(Nai)ves • 11 months ago

Lol the way Elias rejects Tory was funny, poor guy opened his heart.

It was nice to learn about the Webster family incident, I wonder why Lucy and her brother were able to survive. I guess her brother not being at the mansion or wherever it happened makes sense but Lucy in particular must be a hint in of itself.

The way they took out the security guy was a surprise, I thought something was going to happen like with Simon but that is not what I had in mind.

xXPORTALXx • 11 months ago

Well if what they were after was the spiders and the technique for book forgery it makes sense, they'd have no need to kill the defenseless little girl, the rest were probably killed to get to the spiders and to learn the techniques

Dart_LoD • 6 months ago

And that is exactly it! This was just part 1 of the S2. They are delivering another 12 episodes and together it makes 24 Episodes in Season 2. Enjoy!!

Dazed • 11 months ago

Lucy seems like the type of person that requires patience & a thick skin to befriend.

Seeing how she called her brother a 'loser/coward', when the guy works in a pretty dangerous field of business as an auctioneer for the Black Market, she must be the type to onesidedly hold people to certain expectations. Break them and she will hound you for life for not living up to her assessment of you.

xXPORTALXx • 11 months ago

I think she just holds herself and her brother accountable for her family's slaughter since they were the only two to survive. She's got a lot of emotional baggage.

Dazed • 11 months ago

So does Chise, Zoë & Philomela. All 4 have different personalities, even though they share the fact of having a lot of emotional baggage weighing on them.

That said, reading my take on her personality again, I'm not convinced anymore. She is confrontational & unpleasant. But it's not too clear if that's just who she is or if it's entirely due to the incident.

Ka-chan | カッちゃん • 11 months ago

Here's the thing about psychology: People are different, so the way they crack under pressure is different!

Fight, Flight, Freeze, Fawn!

Zoë freezes (and flees), Philomela Fawns (and flees), Chise's first response is also freeze, her second is flight and fawn, depending on situation and fight is her last resort.

Lucy has a major fight response with occasional freeze response. But the other two are basically completely shut down (!) and that's the part that leads to the "hurting others" type of outcomes. People who's psychological flexibility is locked into "no motion or forward motion" are like that.

Just because this type of trauma respons is externally more discomforting than others, does not mean it's worse!! And actually not seeing how damaging the other response forms can be, is also making things orse, not better.

In their protective attributes:

Figh = forward, confronting the source of stress
Freeze = no motion, being confronted by the source of stress
Fawn = side stepping towards the source of stress
Flight = side stepping away from the source of stress

In their destructive attributes:

Figh = forward, attacking yourself and ppl who wanna help. Sometimes, "Aggression"
Freeze = no motion, being beyond oneself and unable to react to help, even if willing to. Sometimes, "Dissociation"
Fawn = side stepping into help so much, that no own decisions and responsibility taking for own needs happens. Aka fully burdening helpers and falsely holding them accountable for outcomes! Aka "Co-Dependency"
Flight = side stepping away from help and at times, running straight into danger instead while helpers are left to the burden of helplessly watching the disaster unfold! Sometimes, "Hyper-Independence"

All these come with sometimes very bad consequences for oneself AND the people around. It's just that we are e.g. societally less accepting of "Aggression", ESPECIALLY in women (while dangerously over-normlising it in men!! And we are societally over-accepting of other responses, like fawning, with detrimental consequences to society, just like us wrecking our own social system by allowing fawning to the point we bleed out altruistic people and then are left with e.g. medical systems or work environments that are rotten and dysfunctional.

Dazed • 11 months ago

Isn't Philomela more flight than fawn? She steps away from help all the time. She isn't really co-dependent, since she heavily distances herself from everyone even those who know her well and extent their hand like the blond haired boy.

Thanks for the informative psychology crash course on stress responses!!

Paradise SLU • 11 months ago

Yes ep9 is here, previous episode was very good.

~YajLa~ • 11 months ago

I love how Elias is learning more about human feelings hahaha
It seems like we're near at the climax of this arc... I wonder if Philomela is somehow involve in this situation

Amazing • 2 months ago

05:17 💀💀😳

Can't shake the fact that we were presented a defenseless Lucy in this episode and yet, nobody made a move on her 😔 truly such a saddening turn of events

VanderWall Stronghold • 11 months ago

I have a slight feeling it's Philomela's grandma. I don't know. But she seems sus.

Kranesh • 11 months ago

So that's the story of the tragedy, I'm sure there's still more info to be given but... damn, being the sole survivor and having the trademark of your family stolen? No wonder Lucy has that attitude, and I'm happy we got some answers, now we'll have to see what Chise and the others will do about it.

Either way, we know that Philomena is involved in this book thingy as she's being manipulated, it might be a red herring but the chances are very high... shit's about to go down again and I'm hyped to see where this goes.

NetroLancer • 11 months ago
